Aug 30, 2014 IPad Mini:: Delete And Reinstall Garageband Aug 30, 2014. If I delete Garageband, which was installed on my iPad Mini when I purchased it, would I be able to reinstall it at no cost later?
https://excilunvi.tistory.com/14. Sep 04, 2019 Select the Regions you want to join and click Edit Join Regions from the menu bar. You can split a MIDI Region in your track by first selecting it. Then, in the Tracks area, move the playhead where you want the split and click Edit Split Regions at Playhead in the menu bar or right-click and pick Split Regions at Playhead from the context menu. When joining audio regions, the regions must be adjacent to each other on the same track. If you join segments of compressed audio files, the files are converted to AIFF format. Audio regions are joined nondestructively. GarageBand creates a new audio file for the joined regions (called a mixdown) that replaces the original regions.

Last night the kids wanted to play around on the iPad so I thought I'd fire up the GB Taiko drums and let them have a ball. So I tapped GB and now it just sits at the file loading screen and does nothing. I have one project (a throwaway to use the new Asian instruments) and tapping on it does nothing - won't open, just sits on the screen. I press the + button in the upper right corner and nothing. So I can't start a new song. I can touch 'Browse' at the bottom and access the File Browser, but since I have no GB files anywhere this doesn't help.
I uninstalled and reinstalled GB last night and now have the same issue. Is there a way to get back to the instrument selection screen that I'm missing? Is anyone else having this issue?

Out of interest what are you (were you) running it on? Machine/version etc.
It is working normally for me, sorry I can't be of any more help. Maybe check your available storage level. Things can act weird when the storage gets full.
If you look for GarageBand in the iOS settings app there is an option to reset it.
I'm running the latest iOS 11 on an iPad Pro 12.9' 256GB I purchased in March 2017. There's no reason this shouldn't run on my machine.

I tried to go to the Settings in iOS and when I click GarageBand under apps the Settings app freezes and eventually dumps me back to the dash.

Man!??!?!?
You can offload it which deletes the app but keeps the data. A reboot first though might fix your problem.
I reinstalled the app again and rebooted. I got it to work, but I avoided the 'song selection' screen. I suspect I'll have the same issue should I try to choose a song again so for now we'll go with this.
Would love to know if anyone else can replicate this.

Check in the Settings app after the default location for GarageBand files.
It sometimes resets to iCloud as the default location which can lead to unexpected behaviour if the network connection is so so.

Anyone know how GarageBand manages to have pressure-sensitivity on their drums? I didn't think that the iPad Pro had 3D touch and I don't know of any other apps that make use of this functionality. What is this sorcery, Apple?!?!
Had something similar happen a while back. Having iCloud turned on was the culprit. I think it was turning off iCloud for gb that fixed it.

If I remember correctly they use either the tapping sound picked up by the mic or the vibrations picked up by the accellerometer. One of those two.

I'm pretty sure it uses the accelerometer.
When I tilt my iPad Air 2 using the smart cover the velocity works very well but if the Air 2 is flat on the table it's not working as good(ie. less sensitive due to less motion).
I would still prefer 'vertical velocity' for piano and 'radial velocity' for the drum pads as alternatives.
The onscreen keyboards/pads in Cubasis are a real joy to use compared to many other apps.
(Gadget's onscreen keyboards are a total nightmare in comparison as there is no way to add any dynamics to the performance).
Regardless of how they do it, it's VERY clever. This should be implemented in more apps - it'd be a great feature to have as an option.

That's very interesting. Orphion has velocity sensitive tapping, but I assumed it was based on the radius of the touch-point. Light taps only register your fingertip, while harder presses flatten your finger on the screen more. I am going to try it with my iPad angled, because I never liked how Orphion read the velocity but was probably playing it wrong.
